Peter Falconio murder: Northern Territory police renew appeal to find body after 20 years

Twenty years after one of Australia’s most famous outback homicides, police are as yet looking for the collection of missing British hiker Peter Falconio.

Northern Territory police stay confident they’ll one day give conclusion to the then 28-year-old’s family, with examiners asking anybody with data to approach.

Falconio was driving with his sweetheart Joanne Lees along the Stuart Highway north of Alice Springs on 14 July 2001, when Murdoch drove up behind them.

Falconio’s body has never been found.

Murdoch is carrying out a day to day existence punishment with a 28-year non-parole period. He has would not tell investigators where Falconio’s body is.

The NT boss clergyman, Michael Gunner, said the homicide was an unfeeling and nauseating demonstration of brutality.

“The homicide of Peter Falconio was a profoundly upsetting and horrendous accident that profoundly affected numerous individuals,” he said on Wednesday. “Not the most un-being Mr Falconio’s family and his better half at that point,” Joanne Lees.”He said it was “some solace” that Murdoch was caught and imprisoned, and won’t hazard the public once more.

NT investigator senior sergeant Karl Day said he trusted the achievement prompted somebody offering new data so the missing individual examination could be tackled.
